”After initially choosing brick we were introduced to EcoSmart Stone by our architect, and fell for it. We just loved the
textural aspect, and the large format stone.
Deb and Frank built their home as owner builders project managing all the trades people on the project. There were two dwellings they built on the property. The more "contemporary home", and Frank's "man shed", both reasonably substantial in themselves. The stone cladding was a little more expensive than brick they had chosen. As this was their final retirement home a compromise was not an option.

The mechanical fixing system also attracted us as we could use our carpenter relative to do the installation. Plus the generous thermal insulation benefits which meant we did not need 'in wall' insulation saving us some money. If we chose other stone cladding we would have had to line the walls with fibre cement sheeting. Direct to stud fixing meant we did not have the costs and extra time involved in that process. Nor the mess around the build site. The smartclip fixing system does not involve wet mortar setting involved in traditional stone veneer cladding. Our carpenter had no problems at all with the installation, including the grout joint finishing we wanted to have. We are both ecstatic with the final result. The photos speak for themselves really.
